This solar powered lighting kit is ideal for garden sheds, garages, stables and summer houses. It features a super bright energy saving bulb that provides brightness equivalent to a 40 watt standard bulb, and will illuminate a 4m x 4m room. The solar panel is a 5 watt high power crystalline type, that gives outstanding performance in all British weather conditions. The Solar Mate I is supplied complete with panel, bulb, bulb holder, switch, cable, and roof/wall mounting kit. The product is supplied with a 10 year warranty excluding the bulb, which has a 3000 hour life expectancy. The kit is quickly and easily assembled with just basic DIY skills required. The kit will require the additional purchase of a 12 volt lead acid battery, and the amp hour (Ah) rating of the battery will determine how many hours worth of light that the product will provide when used. The recommended battery for this item would be a 12V 3.3Ah version, Maplin Order Code MM24B. This should provide approximately four hours of lighting when fully charged, and will typically be fully charged in approximately nine and a half hours of exposure to light. Batteries under a 50Ah rating will require a suitable voltage regulator to prevent overcharging of the battery. If the advised battery above is used, a suitable voltage regulator would be Maplin Order Code N82AU.
